
Steven Leash Jr., M.B.A, M.P.A.
Mr. Steven Leash was born and raised on the Cahuilla Indian Reservation. His passion for adventure and travel led him to explore over 30 countries and visit all but 3 of the 50 states. As an entrepreneur, Mr. Leash has developed several small businesses that employ people in the local community. As Tribal Secretary of the Cahuilla Band of Indians, he serves his community and Indian Country with humility ingrained from growing up on the reservation and agility from his global experiences nationally and abroad. In 2017, Mr. Leash obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education; he then earned a Master’s in Public Administration in 2018 and a Master’s in Business Administration in 2020. Educational pursuit and entrepreneurship are the pillars he strives to provide for his local community. His experience in both extends from higher education to owning and operating businesses, investing, and project management for SIMBA Group in Kampala, Uganda. Prior to that, he worked with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) team for Principal Financial Group in Des Moines, Iowa and led construction projects with Trident Seafoods in rural Naknek, Alaska. The interwoven diversity of his experiences generates a growing knowledge base and adoption of tools and insights that encourage Mr. Leash to lead in Indian Country.
