Long-Range Transportation Plan (LRTP)

The Cahuilla Band of Indians (Tribe) Public Works department is committed to preparing a long-range transportation plan that clearly assesses the existing conditions, evaluates community needs, and identifies a path forward to providing safe, complete streets on the Cahuilla Indian Reservation.
Cahuilla Band of Indians

What is a Long Range Transportation Plan?

A Long-Range Transportation Plan (LRTP) is developed every few years to define a vision for the Cahuilla Band of Indians (Tribe) that aims to address future mobility needs as the reservation continues to grow. This vision considers a forecast of available revenues, changing demographics, and any other significant trends.
The LRTP sets priorities for how to spend federal funds on transportation projects that serve Tribal members. Projects may include roads, bridges, transit facilities and services, facilities for people walking and biking, and other enhancements. It serves as the community’s guide to the development of a transportation system that meets both the current and future mobility needs of its members.
For the 2021 LRTP update, the Tribe’s Public Works department has contracted Michael Baker International, a planning and engineering firm, and Fourth World Design Group, LLC, a 100% Native-owned Community Planning consulting firm, to help conduct community outreach and to prepare the final plan.
